see that is my excuse for my lack of posts the last several days, even though it really has nothing to do with Derby since we have not gone to any events... oh- I take that back... I did volunteer last Friday at "Festiville" down on the waterfront- however the weather wasn't very cooperative and during my shift there wasn't much going on.... we were a little perplexed by this...
My initial question was... is it a liquid? because if you fry butter isn't that what you get? So of course my sister had to go and ask the person making it--- and eventually we caved and bought some... really wasn't much butter to it, more of just batter with cinnamon flavoring- I'll take funnell cake any day over fried butter...
For those of you who don't live in Louisville or the surrounding area you might not realize how big of a week this actually is... this is a week many people live for around here... people arrange vacations around Derby Week to enjoy the entire Kentucky Derby Festival. Every day is another event... I think I have been to almost all of the major events- with the exception of the Run for the Rose...and I have yet to go and scope out the stars at the Barnstable Brown Party---- something that I will do one year! This year we aren't making it to any of the big events... and we aren't headed to the track for Oaks or Derby... but doesn't mean we won't enjoy the week just the same...
So what has been keeping me occupied and away from my blog... well a little thing called the Talent Show (or Variety Show) yep- year number 4 for me and my gaggle of boys... we have another humdinger in store for the crowd... not sure it will be able to top last years Macho Man performance, but we are going to give it a try!!!! and I will be back with pictures and hopefully video to share!
Oh... and I can't forget, if you still would like there are 2 more days to vote for the picture of cute little Kinsey in the Shutterfly contest- see below for all the details... I really would appreciate the support...
I will leave you with some scrappiness... some of these layouts are OLD... but they are all about the Derby Festivities or being at the "track"... enjoy!
where would you love to vacation this year? No limits to anywhere!
hugs
juli
Well- for a while we were going to forgo vacation- thought maybe we should hold onto our money being that the boys tuition for school is going up... but I was able to convice my husband that we really need some time away from home and he bought into it... the thing about me, is not so much where we vacation but it is who we vacation with- I love going on vacation with friends and family- I love the memories I have of vacations we took with a large group of families- most of who all went to the same school/church we went to and all of our parents were close friends (and for the record- they still get together almost every week for Friday night dinners out!) Here is a picture from circa 1985 at the Casa Del Mar in Ormond Beach Florida- our destination every year for many years!
We have been lucky to have similar vacations the last 2 years with our group of friends... 2 years ago it was just outside Destin and then last summer it was in Gulf Shores...
So when friends told me they had just booked a condo in Perdido Key Florida the wheels went in motion- we quickly found another family to be our roomates for the week and we now are booked to go to! I am truly looking forward to the week and am excited that several other friends are now making plans to join us as well! So this summer- the place I want to go if I could go anywhere is right here! Can't wait!
